About Us

It’s been enjoyable sixteen years of hard core BMX and Mountain bike riding, my overwhelming passion and love for riding both to stay fit and develop the sport has lead me to the discovery of Rider owned Bicycles.

On the 5th of December 2006 I opened the first imported bicycle showroom in Pune City. Stocking in over 14 imported branded bikes and a mixture of top end accessories ready for sale to the riders in Pune.

Alongside with other BMX riders such as Nilesh Dhumal and Vinay Menon a free rider and downhill biker from Pune who designed the logo and store, we started rider owned bicycles, our passion and drive for the sport is allowing us to provide a backbone for the Indian biker enthusiast. By providing top end bicycles as well as good biking knowledge to all in India, in attempt to expand BMX, Mountain bike riding and road riding in India.

All of us at Rider owned bicycles are friendly and dedicated to assisting all of you biking enthusiasts out there! Whether it is verbal advice or any sort of technical issues regarding bicycles we will be more than happy to help.

Great Bikes and Big Fun

That’s what drives us to do it right. Our mission is to innovate responsibly by addressing the requirements of different riders and riding style. We then design and build bikes that meet their specific needs. Everything from light and tough backcountry bikes to urban load haulers, kids race bikes to long travel enduro specialists. The ultimate test of our bikes is that they perform exceptionally well and do so for an exceptionally long period of time. That’s why you see 10-year-old Kona’s ripping the streets and trails of your hometown.

And that’s why 10 years from now you’ll be seeing the bikes we built today. Why make a steel hardtail dirt jumpers that rips pump tracks ? A World Cup winning downhill race machine ? Bicycles for healthcare workers in Africa? A fleet of stylish and speedy commuters? Trail bikes that eat dirt for breakfast? Why ? Because bicycles are inspirational. Plain and simple. The “noblest invention” is right, born with the power to create significant change, to bestow endless freedom and seriously big fun. And that, fellow pedaltarian (we made that up), is what Kona is all about.
